Travel Ban Threatens to Disrupt Patient Care

Washington, DC, March 12, 2018 — The National Board of Medication Therapy Management (NBMTM) is proud of the diversity represented in the pharmacy community. Millions of patients with a wide variety of conditions—including arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease rely on pharmacists.

NBMTM is greatly concerned about the impact the recent travel ban could have on the pipeline of young pharmacists who represent the future of the profession and who will provide MTM to Americans everywhere over the course of their careers. It is in no one’s interest to prevent or restrict people of different nationalities and faiths from advancing pharmacy and science.

NBMTM is committed to doing what we can to protect these pharmacists scheduled to take certification exams in the coming months from any negative impact of this ban. NBMTM will do all it can to accommodate these pharmacists and will reach out to offer assistance, including waiving the foreign application fee for those physicians caught outside of the United States as a result of this ban.

We encourage those impacted to email contact@nbmtm.org with questions and concerns.
